Recently, we’ve started working on an important new feature that many of our users have been asking for: collaborating as a crisis communications team in FirstRing.
Many teams were already collaborating in FirstRing, but the process was sometimes cumbersome—for example, by sharing a general account or having multiple people use the same login credentials. That is no longer necessary.
👥 New feature: Share crises with your team
Starting now, you can share a crisis you’ve created with your colleagues on your team. Start as you normally would: create a new case, enter the available information, and let FirstRing generate a communication plan. Once the output is ready, you can share it with the other users on your team.
Once a crisis has been shared, team members can view the entire communication strategy. They can see FirstRing’s output as well as the information you’ve entered. This ensures that everyone is working based on the same context, analysis, strategy, and draft copy.
In a shared crisis, you can also see who the AI Operator is at that moment. The AI Operator is the person who can manage the crisis and add new information.
✍️ Request Writing Privileges
Team members can initially view the information but cannot make changes right away. This means they cannot add new factual information themselves or process new information from the Situational Awareness .
We’ve implemented this to prevent colleagues from issuing different commands simultaneously, which could cause FirstRing to crash. If a colleague still wants to manage the crisis, they can request write permissions. Once you grant those permissions, that colleague becomes the AI Operator. Only one person can edit and issue commands at a time.
This ensures that it remains clear who is in control of the information that FirstRing processes at any given time. We designed the system this way intentionally. In a crisis, you want to be able to collaborate quickly, but you also want to prevent multiple streams of information from getting mixed up.
🗂️ Find shared crises
From now on, your crisis overview will show not only your own crises, but also the crises that have been shared with your team. Under "My Crises," you'll find the cases you've created yourself. Under "Shared Crises," you'll see the crises your team is working on together.
Good to know: When you share a crisis, it's visible to everyone on your team who has a FirstRing account.
